On May 23rd use your bike to commute. Whether it be to school, work or the grocery store riding your bike is a fun, healthy and environmentally friendly way to go.
To encourage members of the community to ride their bikes Tri-Sport and Prime Distributors are setting up three “pit stop” locations to provide riders with free drinks, snacks, prizes, quick mechanic fixes, safety information and encouragement. The petition St. Maarten / St. Martin for Complete Streets will also be available for people to sign. The three pit stop locations will be open from 7am-5pm on Friday, May 23rd and will be located at: Tri-Sport on Airport Road in Simpson Bay, Tri-Sport on Rue de Hollande in Marigot and the Texaco Star Mart on Bush Road.
Ride Your Bike to School and Work Day is one of the many Bike Month activities scheduled in the month of May. The month is dedicated to promoting bicycling as a healthy, fun and viable form of transportation. The goal of the month is to get people excited about bicycling and the benefits it provides for public health, traffic reduction, and our environment. Cycling instead of driving can improve your health by burning 400+ calories an hour, reducing stress, increasing energy levels, and elevating overall mood.
