Rentals/Tours
When was the last time you biked across two countries in one day? How about biking from sea level to the top of St. Maarten’s highest mountain and back in time for a great dinner at a fine restaurant on the coast? Tri-Sport’s comfortable and light TREK mountain bikes and hybrids are ideal for the paved roads and unpaved trails that criss-cross our 37 square mile island.
Explore the loop around the Simpsonbay Lagoon in the morning, with stops along the way at the pristine and quiet Baie des Prunes (Plum Beach) and Baie Rouge for a dip in the crystal clear Caribbean Sea.
Continue on to the colourful and bustling waterfront Market in Marigot, the French capital, for a fresh passionfruit smoothie and a quick hike up to the historical Fort Louis, followed by a lunch at one of the French sidewalk bistros and a short ride back to Tri-Sport.
Our bikes are rented with a helmet, a water bottle, a lock, and a repair kit.

PERSONALIZED BIKE TOUR
Meet Fred, your international guide (and great chef as we have just discovered!), at Tri-Sport for a great 3-hour bike ride across the border. Instead of tackling the heavy traffic in Simpsonbay, travel across the Lagoon by boat with your mountain bike and start your ride from the quiet Port de Plaisance Resort in Colebay. If you are up for some technical singletrack, Fred will lead you across the road to the beautiful Bellevue Trails, a series of winding cow trails which have been cleared and marked for the island’s growing mounatin bike enthusiasts. If you are not an off-roadie, then continue on along the Bellevue pavement where you will stop at the Dutch/French border and learn about the famous legend which supposedly led to the peaceful separation of the two sides of St. Maarten.
Follow the main road leading to the French capital of Marigot, along the fields and ruins of 300-year old sugar cane plantations to the bustling Market Place on the Waterfront. If you are lucky enough to have booked your tour on a Wednesday or Saturday, you will get to witness Market Day, the lively flurry of colours and smells of spices and fruit, local art and jewelery, as well as fresh fish and meats.
Leave the noise and action of the Market place behind you and hike up to the historical Fort Louis which was built in the 1600’s and offers a spectacular view of neighbouring Anguilla, the chrystal blue Bay and Marigot.
Stop off at the newly opened Museum to learn about artifacts that have been recently found in native villages dating back thousands of years, as well as St. Maarten’s rich and vibrant past.
From there it is a smooth ride back to Tri-Sport where you can enjoy a well deserved cold drink with Fanoula who can then advise you on what to do next!
$49 per person includes your bicycle, helmet, water for your tour and a cold drink at the finish. Museum charge is an additional $5 if you wish to visit.
